Why I'm Closing My Twitter Account

After more than a decade on Twitter, a platform I joined in 2011 to stay informed on political news, technological advancements, and to engage in discussions on topics I am passionate about, I’ve made the decision to close my account. This decision is driven by the recent developments that have fundamentally altered the nature of the platform.

The acquisition of Twitter by Elon Musk, and the subsequent rebranding to X, marks a significant shift in how the platform is governed and utilized. While I recognize that capitalism allows for such moves, I firmly believe that platforms that have become essential tools for communication in our society should not be subject to the whims of a single individual or a small group. The actions taken by Musk—limiting freedom of speech, reinstating controversial figures, and manipulating algorithms to serve personal interests—are deeply troubling and contrary to the values of open and fair communication.

I signed up for Twitter, not X, and I do not agree with the new terms and conditions imposed by this transformation. While I acknowledge that this decision comes later than perhaps it should have, I am closing my Twitter account today in protest of these changes.

For those who wish to stay in touch, you can find alternative ways to connect with me through the contact details available on my website. I look forward to continuing our conversations on platforms that respect the diversity of thought and the integrity of open communication.
